The Church you see today replaced the Old Church that had been on the site since 1922. The formal opening of the Church took place on Sunday 4th June 1967 by the then Bishop - His Lordship Right Rev. John E. Petit, M.A. Bishop of Menevia. (The Parish was then in the Diocese of Menevia). Whilst the Opening and Solemn Blessing took place on this day there was still some interior works to be completed. Over the years there have been various changes - font relocated to the front by the altar, the organ has moved to three different positions, altar rails removed, tabernacle position lowered.
We celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Church during 2016/17 and will celebrate the 100th anniversary of there being a Catholic Church in Hawarden in 2022.
